Your Financial Protection Review: What We’ll Look At Together

June 02, 2026

You check your home’s smoke detector batteries at least annually. You change the oil in your car every few thousand miles. But when was the last time you reviewed the structural integrity of your financial life?

A Financial Protection Review is that checkup. It is a meeting where we look at how your money, your assets, and your income would hold up against a surprise. Think of it as a stress test for your net worth.

Here is what we could review during that session:

1. Your Financial Safety Net

Most people assume a review is only about returns, but we’ll look at risk first.

We will examine your current savings and investment portfolio to answer three questions:

  • Liquidity: If you lost your job tomorrow, how many months of cash do you have access to immediately?

  • Volatility: Are you holding too much risk for your current timeline (e.g., aggressive growth funds three years before retirement)?

  • Fees & Overlap: Are you paying any excess or hidden fees that could be chipping away at your gains?

2. Your Insurance Gaps

Insurance is not exciting until you need it. We’ll review your policies to make sure you’re covered and illustrate coverage to fill any gaps.

  • Life Insurance: Does your death benefit cover your remaining mortgage, college costs, and 10 years of lost income for your family? Could it be doing more for you?

  • Disability Insurance: How much of your paycheck would you get if you were sick or hurt and couldn’t work?

  • Long Term Care Insurance: How will you manage future healthcare or caregiving expenses?

  • Business Protection Insurance: Could your business benefit from key person or buy-sell coverage so all partners are protected?

3. Your Employer Benefits

Your job likely offers more benefits than you realize. Many people leave benefits on the table because they don’t understand the options or forget to update their selections as their life changes.

We can review your current employer benefit selections for:

  • 401(k) Match: Are you contributing enough to get the full employer match? That is a 100% return on that portion of your contribution.

  • Group Life & AD&D: Is the default 1x salary enough, or do you need to elect supplemental coverage?

  • HSA or FSA: Are you using your health savings accounts effectively? Do you understand everything they offer?

4. Your Legal & Estate Basics

Do your loved ones know where to turn when something happens to you? Our Life and Legacy Reference Guide helps you organize your affairs with a simple fill-in-the-blank template.
